Former Golden State Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins has been accused of threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend, Christy West, over her refusal to allow their son to attend his wedding, according to Bleacher Report’s Mike Chiari.
Cousins was marrying another woman.
TMZ Sports released an audio recording dated Aug. 23 in which a person West alleges to be Cousins threatens to kill her.
According Chiari, West has turned the recording over to the Mobile Police Department in Mobile, Alabama, which is Cousins’ hometown. Chiari also reports that West has filed a restraining order against Cousins to protect herself and their son.
The Athletic’s Sam Amick reports that the Los Angeles Lakers, Cousins’ new team, have issued the following statement:
Cousins signed with the Lakers in this year’s free agency but he was not expected to suit up for the team in the 2019-20 NBA season after tearing his ACL during an offseason practice in Las Vegas on Monday, Aug. 12.
