Demarai Gray has been undergoing his Everton medical today ahead of a £1.5m move.
The 25-year-old is ready to join the Blues from Bayer Leverkusen and become the second winger signed this summer by manager Rafa Benitez after the arrival of Andros Townsend.
Everton are in the hunt for a third wide-man with Burnley's Dwight McNeil on the club's wanted list but they face competition from Aston Villa for the 21-year-old.
But Gray is closing in on being the second winger through the door after the free transfer signing of Townsend was confirmed earlier this evening.
The former Leicester City man has been having his medical abroad with the hope that he will be able to join Benitez's squad in Orlando later this week ahead of the club's friendly games in the Florida Cup.
Everton are also set to tie up the signing of goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, who will join from Bournemouth.
