Demands issued at Girvan but gaffer Matt Maley not panicking after winless start

Matt Maley insists he won't press the panic button after Girvan's false start to the season.

The Seasiders are bottom of the West of Scotland League Third Division after back-to-back defeats.

A 5-1 thumping at Finnart was followed by a three-goal reverse at home to Irvine Victoria on Wednesday night.

It's been underwhelming stuff to put it mildly for Girvan but boss Maley is adamant the tide will turn although he accepts this weekend's trip to Bellshill Athletic is crucial.

He told Ayrshire Football News: "There will be questions asked of some of them in terms of the job we're asking them to do but we're better than what we're showing.

"We've recruited a good squad but I can't keep telling people that. We need to go out and deliver on the park and show people that we're good. The only way we do that is through results.

"There are a lot of new players in there so they are finding out about how each other play and I am confident that we can make this happen.

"I'm not going to panic. We're two games in. We need to move on to Saturday and believe in ourselves as you can get into losing habits."

Maley has spent the last couple of days working on a plan to get Girvan's campaign going and gave an insight into what will be expected from his squad.

"We will ask them to trust us," he added. "The principles we've been working on in pre-season; having the ability to take the ball through people and round people.

"We had little spells on Wednesday night when we were excellent and created chances but we don't do it enough. We need to stop panicking when we are on the ball under pressure.

"We need to relax more and it will come. We will turn it around."
