
Members of the Saudi Shura Council have urged Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid al-Qasabi to empower the e-commerce sector.
They demanded incentives and programs to encourage the private sector and investors to join giant strategic economic projects in the Kingdom, such as the Red Sea, NEOM and AlUla projects and others.
The meeting with the Minister tackled protecting local technology firms from unfair competition from foreign and semi-governmental companies.
It also discussed the mechanisms and initiatives launched by the Ministry to upgrade domestic firms.
The Economic and Energy Committee of the Shura Council held a virtual meeting on Friday to discuss the annual report on the performance of the Ministry. It covered its achievements and obstacles it is facing and made recommendations.
The meeting was chaired by head of the Committee Dr. Faisal al-Fadhel and attended by Qasabi and members of the Council.
