Deluded Rangers nonsense about Beale sets Hotline on fire as Celtic diehards scorch Scotland's second club

Celtic's Scottish Cup semi-final triumph over Rangers ensured a brutal bank holiday takedown for the Light Blues with boss Michael Beale a man under fire.

With the Hoops on course for a Treble, gloating was the order of the day and there were some Ibrox fans who want to see out the season by giving a chance to the kids. Henry Moffat, Stirling, emailed: "Rangers fans can now pencil in the date for next season's League Cup Final, because that is the day that Celtic will secure their 116th unshared trophy and overtake Rangers in their claim to have won more trophies than them. Celtic will then lay claim to every conceivable record in Scottish football and Rangers will no longer be able to deny the truth that they are Scotland's second club.

Eddie Easson, Ballingry, emailed: "Maybe now Beale and his bang average team will get back in their box. The £5million wonder boy Malik Tillman was never at the races. Ryan Kent was checking the train times to Burnley. Alfredo Morelos was ordering a Big Mac for his tea.

"Fashion Sakala still hasn’t worked out that you have to put the ball between the sticks to score. Now Beale is talking about the massive rebuild that is needed but it will be interesting to see where the money is coming from."

Rob McNab, Dunoon, emailed: "I'm fed up with the so-called experts saying Beale can’t be blamed as he inherited this squad. "That is nonsense as time and again you can see what a great manager can do to motivate their team and set them up organised and with a good game plan. Look at Crystal Palace under Patrick Vieira and now under good old Roy Hodgson, same players, night and day in performance levels.

"Those suggesting Beale is blameless are deluded and will then no doubt start bumping their gums after Celtic thrash us in the first game next season and it all begins again."

Robert McEwan, Mount Vernon, emailed: "Sunday's game went exactly as I thought it would go. Rangers on the attack and going for it in the last chance saloon. Celtic were not at their best but we still won the match and the treble is on."

James Brown, Glasgow, emailed: "I look forward to seeing Hotline regular Chris Lowe moaning about referee Willie Collum pulling out of the semi-final through injury. It will be funny to see what excuses Mr Lowe comes up with, but he will probably still complain about Mr Collum."

Robert Hunter, emailed: "Right now Rangers just cannot score. Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are non trying passengers and should be dropped from the squad. Fashion Sakala misses so many sitters and should go to. Beale should play some of the young guys to let them show what they can do until the end of the season. I'm sure Zac Lovelace and Robbie Ure would bust a gut in the games that we have left. At least we would see some effort."

Dr Robert Pender, emailed: "The Old Firm game was a good watch, if only Rangers had strikers as good as Celtic they would have won with room to spare. For the remainder of the season I don't want to see Kent or Morelos, give the young guns a chance."

John Caw, emailed: "Neil McCann blames six Rangers players for the loss of a goal. The guilty party was the referee. He refused Celtic a free kick outside the box and unfortunately as Nicolas Raskin is new to Scottish football and doesn’t know procedure, he stopped and if Don Robertson had been fair, maybe Celtic wouldn’t have scored. Don should have let him know."

Michael Edmonds, Northampton, emailed: "At the start of the season the Hotline's George Wilson said Jota was a one trick show pony and Cameron Carter-Vickers was a cart horse. Both guys have been outstanding all season and proved their worth again on Sunday. Why would anyone write such drivel about two top class footballers?"
