Delta taxi passenger injured and road closed after smash

A Delta taxi passenger was injured and a road closed after a two-vehicle smash this morning.

These dramatic images from an ECHO reader show the crumpled front end of a Delta taxi and a badly damaged side of black Jaguar X-Type car.

Police confirmed a female passenger inside the private hire vehicle was hurt after crash around 9am on Breck Road in Everton .

The road had to be closed between Heyworth Street and Breckfield Road South to allow recovery of the vehicles to be arranged, police added.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said the passenger is thought to have escaped with "slight injuries" and did not require hospital treatment after being checked over by ambulance staff at the scene.

Nobody else is thought to have been hurt.

But the crash, which was yards from a bus stop, affected public transport.

Arriva North West tweeted to warn its customers that Service 14 will be using Queens Road in both directions during the closure.

And Stagecoach said all 14 and 189 buses on the way into the city were being diverted via Queens Road and West Derby Road while journeys out of the city will use Heyworth Street, St Domingo, Mere Lane "and then pick up the route".
