Delta Goodrem Formed An Aussie Supergroup To Recreate Mean Girls Scene & It’s So Fetch

In what can only be described as a Christmas miracle, Delta Goodrem has filled the Young Divas-shaped hole in Australia’s heart by forming an Aussie pop star supergroup.

For her sixth annual Christmas With Delta special, the songstress recruited Sophie Monk, Samantha Jade and Amy Shark to perform “Jingle Bell Rock”.

The playful performance was a nod to the iconic Mean Girls Christmas scene, complete with matching outfits, knee-high boots, gloves and Santa hats.

The Block winner Mitch Edwards also got involved, playing the overly enthusiastic Mrs George and recording the whole thing with a camcorder.

Alongside the pitch-perfect rendition, the four Aussie musicians recreated the dance routine from the film — albeit with significantly fewer thigh slaps and much less tension. Samantha also kicked the CD player on the floor, forcing them to sing a cappella in perfect harmony just like the OG scene.

While the performance and corresponding choreo were definitely a change of form for singer-songwriter Amy, ex-Bardot member Sophie appeared right at home in a girl group.

Delta also shared a behind the scenes video of the group rehearsing, admitting she’s “always wanted to be in a girl group” — and honestly, same girl.

Now, I know this was just a one-off performance, but I would love to see this powerhouse quartet become an official girl group. If not full-time, then just for the month of December.

If it were up to me, they would release an official cover of “Jingle Bell Rock” on streaming services ASAP, record an entire Christmas album filled with covers and original hits, and embark on a national tour.

All four have had huge success in music, stage and screen, so it’s not like they have anything to prove by joining forces. Why not embark on a fun side quest every holiday season?

As for their name, perhaps they could be inspired by their Mean Girls performance and use the hashtag on Delta’s post: Nice Girls.

I’m already their number one fan.
