Delta expands trans-Atlantic service for summer 2019

Delta Air Lines announced last week the carrier was expanding its trans-Atlantic network for summer 2019 with new routes and additional frequencies.

The airline will launch a nonstop flight from Tampa Bay to Amsterdam, Netherlands, on May 23, 2019, marking Delta's 11th Amsterdam route from the United States and second from Florida.

Starting June 16, 2019, the carrier is also expanding services from Los Angeles International Airport to both Amsterdam and Paris Charles de Gaulle. The flights from LAX to Paris will be operated with Boeing 777 aircraft, which feature Delta One suites and Delta Premium Select.

"Delta is putting great focus on our international expansion and Europe is an important part of this," Delta vice president Roberto Ioriatti said in a statement. "Our new Tampa Bay flight and extra capacity on other key routes from our LAX and JFK hubs offer our customers more choice and convenient connections throughout the United States and Europe in connection with our partners."

Delta is also growing capacity from New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport with the launch of a second daily nonstop flight to both Paris and Tel Aviv, Israel. Both flights will be operated using A330-300 aircraft.

All flights between the U.S. and mainland Europe are operated as part of the joint venture between Delta and Air France, KLM and Alitalia.
