- Delta Air Lines will cease offering complimentary snacks and drinks on hundreds of flights under 350 miles, with these changes expected to commence on 19 May.
- Conversely, flights covering 350 miles or more will receive an upgraded full drink and snack service, a move Delta states is intended to create a more consistent experience across its network.
- The alterations mean approximately 9 per cent of Delta's daily flights, equating to nearly 500 journeys, will no longer have in-flight service, while 14 per cent will shift to full service; the premium Delta First section remains unaffected.
- In addition to service changes, Delta recently increased its checked baggage fees in early April, with the first bag now costing $45, the second $55, and a third bag priced at $200.
- These adjustments, including the baggage fee increases, are attributed by Delta to rising jet fuel prices, which have surged from around $2.50 a gallon to around $4.13 a gallon due to the Iran war, impacting industry operations.
