Dell EMC plans to offer PC as a Service (PCaaS) and data centre technology for businesses looking at digital transformation.
Digital transformation among organisations is growing and Dell EMC sees increasing demand in IT investment in Thailand this year, said Anothai Wettayakorn, vice-president of Dell EMC for India and China.
"Last year was a period of study, but this year a majority of organisations have started to deploy digital transformation," he said.
The company will focus on its five businesses (Dell EMC, VMware data centres, end-user computing, RSA and Secureworks, and Pivotal cloud platform development tools) to help businesses run their digital transformation faster and more securely.
Mr Anothai said PCaaS, a combination of hardware, software, service and financial systems, is a growing trend in Thailand as businesses could potentially scale up or scale down in the course of digital transformation.
In Thailand, Dell through its partners provides financial payments that were previously available for server and storage businesses, but the company is extending the programme to corporate computers.
Mr Anothai said computers for corporate customers have been evolving to support future workforces with multi-generation users.
Businesses have to prepare computer devices and tools to serve employees, especially younger workers, to mitigate generational differences.
Mr Anothai said corporate PCs are designed to serve specific user needs such as engineering and mobile workforces, executives who are highly mobile but need strong data protection and performance devices, and office workers.
He said security is also a key feature for corporate devices, covering fingerprint scans, facial recognition, infrared cameras and encryption data.
To capitalise on this need, Dell introduced the new Latitude laptop and 2-in-1 devices with built-in performance and security features, priced at 35,000-50,000 baht.
"Corporate users replace their new machines every four years, but the replacements have shifted to the PCaaS model," Mr Anothai said.
According to IDC, Dell gained the largest commercial PC market share in terms of units and revenue in Thailand in the fourth quarter of 2017.
Noppadol Punyatipat, newly appointed managing director of Dell Corporation Thailand, said digital disruption is a rapid change and has forced businesses to adapt for survival.
"Financial securities, insurance, telecom, retail and healthcare are among the industries trying to cope with digital disruption," he said.
The company has formed a special team that combines different product portfolios for smart cities.
"We aim to be part of a strategic partnership in Thailand's smart cities," Mr Noppadol said.
Dell EMC also recently announced that it would support Hanoi's smart city initiative to provide total solutions for the city command centre.
