Police were targeting delivery drivers in two Wirral locations yesterday.
The operation was carried out in the Liscard and Birkenhead areas of Wirral, resulting in two arrests, four vehicle seizures and three traffic tickets being issued.
Following reports of a police presence close to the McDonald's in Birkenhead town centre at around midday yesterday, a Merseyside Police spokesperson confirmed to the ECHO a "traffic operation" had been in process.
Later, people took to social media posting about a police presence close to the McDonald's in Liscard, with what appeared to be multiple police officers speaking to delivery drivers parked nearby.
Yesterday afternoon on Wirral Police's Facebook page, a spokesperson confirmed they had been carrying out an operation targeting delivery drivers at the two locations.
In the post on social media, the Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "You said we did.
"Following receipt of complaints regarding delivery drivers working in the areas of Liscard and Charing Cross, officers from Wallasey Policing Team and Matrix Roads Policing conducted an operation today.
" As a result of the operation, two individuals were arrested for fraudulent document offences as well as disqualified driving.
"Four vehicles were seized for licence and insurance offences and officers issued a further three traffic tickets for other matters.
"We appreciate your feedback, please tell us where you’d like to see us next!"
The Wirral Police spokesperson added in the comments "sorry for any late deliveries of food."
