Delivery driver threatened with two weapons in terrifying attempted robbery

A delivery driver was threatened with two weapons in a terrifying attempted robbery in Oldham.

Officers were called to the scene of the incident on Elm Road in Limeside just after 9.30pm last night (Saturday). The victim was left with injuries to his hand after being threatened, police said.

The suspects fled the scene empty-handed. It has not yet been confirmed how many were involved, or what weapons were used to threaten the driver.

One man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. He is in police custody to be questioned.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a report of an attempt robbery on Elm Road, Limeside, Oldham just after 9.30pm last night (21 May 2022). A delivery driver was threatened with two weapons. He received a minor hand injury. Those involved made off from the scene empty handed.

"One male has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in custody at this time.

"Enquiries are on-going and anyone with information is asked to report it online or via LiveChat at www.gmp.police.uk. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
