FedEx delivery driver spits 'huge glob of phlegm' on 'disgusted' customer's driveway

A FedEx delivery driver spat out a "huge glob of phlegm" on a customer's driveway in a "disgusting" moment captured by a doorbell camera.

John Carr, who wasn't home at the time, said he was "disgusted" when he watched the footage after getting an alert on his mobile phone last Friday morning.

Footage shows the driver knocking on the door at Mr Carr's home in the Nottingham suburb of Rise Park and getting no response.

After a few seconds, the driver is seen spitting on the driveway in video recorded by the homeowner's Google Nest camera, which was positioned just above his front door, NottinghamshireLive reports.

Mr Carr said: "It is one thing I have always hated, spitting.

"I know young people spit but to do it on someone's property during a pandemic, this is a lot worse.

"If anyone approaches the house the Nest camera pings my phone, and I looked at my phone and thought, 'he did not just spit on my drive'.

"I then took a look on the bigger screen on my computer and I was disgusted."

In the video, the driver is seen approaching Mr Carr's home, knocking on the front door and taking a couple of steps back.

He waits, taps on a device in his hand and then spits on the floor.

After waiting a few seconds more, the driver returns to his vehicle to get a missed delivery notice, which he then slips through the mail slot before leaving.

Mr Carr said the driver showed a "lack of respect", and he has filed a complaint with FedEx and the seller of the item.

He said he received an "excellent" response from the seller, but he wasn't happy with the explanation from FedEx.

He added: "When I got home I called FedEx to say I need to make a complaint, they said they would call me back and they never did.

"The company that I ordered from was mortified and they contacted FedEx themselves.

"FedEx got back to me to say they had the driver in to give him a good roasting first thing in the morning.

"But when I pressed them about the delay they said the manager had been on holiday and not seen the email until the afternoon, so how could they have spoken to him?

"It was really poor customer service. I thought it was really disgusting."

A spokeswoman for FedEx told Mirror Online: "The behaviour depicted in this video is not consistent with the professionalism our employees and service providers demonstrate every day.

"We have addressed this issue directly with the driver and apologise to both our customer and Mr Carr for any distress caused."
