Delivery driver left with facial injury after being attacked through window of van

A delivery driver was left with a facial injury after being assaulted in a broad daylight attack through the open window of his van.

The incident happened at around 11.15am on Gartloch Avenue, Gartcosh when a car overtook his van and stopped in front of him, preventing him from driving forward.

A man got out of the car, a Mitsubishi Pajero, and approached the van. He assaulted the van driver through the open window before leaving and driving off. The van driver sustained injuries but did not require medical treatment.

Police Scotland is now appealing for information following the assault.

The suspect is described as white, around 5 ft. 8 to 9 inches in height, with a brown beard. He was wearing dark coloured clothing and a beanie hat. The registration of the Mitsubishi is L300 DTC.

Officers are checking CCTV footage for any additional information which could assist the investigation.

Constable Richard Lewis said: “This has been an unprovoked attack on a man going about his working day, delivering parcels. I am appealing to members of the public who were in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen this incident or recognises the car to contact us. Any small piece of information could be crucial in our enquiries so please do get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1389 of 18 April 2021. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 were you can give your information anonymously.
