Delivery company Hermes to open new depot in Nottinghamshire and create 100 jobs

Delivery company Hermes has announced it will open a new depot in Nottinghamshire - creating over 100 jobs in the area.

Located just off junction 26 on the M1, the 75,719 sq ft building is expected to process more than 100,000 parcels daily in its first year and has the capacity to process up to 120,000 a day.

It is due to open on June 1 one month early in order to support the increased volumes resulting from lockdown and will operate in line with the company’s Covid-19 operating measures.

Hermes UK said the announcement forms part of the company’s commitment to continuing to invest in its infrastructure to ensure it is able to continue to support the growth of online shopping.

Jon Ormond, operations director for hubs & depots at Hermes, said: “During these unprecedented times we are seeing a new wave of adoption of online shopping as it becomes the core route for people to get their essentials and also send parcels as a way of connecting with their loved ones.

"This has generated an increase in parcel volumes and a demand for additional capacity and it is therefore imperative that we continue to make the right strategic investments in the right locations.

"This will also create new jobs and provide economic stimulation to these regions as the UK faces challenging economic times.”

The Hermes Nottingham depot will be based at Panattoni Park - a 55-acre, three unit, 715,000 sq ft development on the A610.

Simon Jenkins, development director at Panattoni added: “We were pleased to work with Hermes to complete this transaction at Panattoni Park Nottingham.

"Hermes’ outline requirement was for a building of this size in this location. We were able to work with their team to adapt the building, which we had developed on a speculative basis, to suit their exact needs.

"The additional works required providing further yard space with four more level access doors on the end elevation of the building to meet Hermes requirements.”

Applicants should click to apply here where they will be taken to the Jobtrain website where they can select Nottingham from the drop down list of locations.

There are eight different job roles live at the moment which need multiple employees.
