Deliveroo to launch home delivery pharmacy service in Newport

Deliveroo has announced that it is opening a home delivery pharmacy service in Newport.

The online food delivery company is adding 110 LloydsPharmacy stores to its delivery service, including in the city of Newport.

Healthcare essentials will be available to customers for household delivery as part of the partnership between Deliveroo and LloydsPharmacy.

LloydsPharmacy first partnered with the British online food delivery company in 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic to enable those self-isolating to receive medication.

Customers can already order from 40 stores, but now the delivery giant is rolling out to a further 110 LloydsPharmacy stores in the UK, bringing the total to 150 in the coming months.

As well as Newport, the stores newly added include: Bristol, Nottingham, Exeter, Liverpool, Coventry and Manchester.

LloydsPharmacy's 50 best-selling health products, including cold and flu relief, painkillers and at-home pregnancy tests, will be available to purchase via the Deliveroo's app.

Carlo Mocci, Deliveroo UK's chief business officer, said: "LloydsPharmacy has provided a vital service throughout the pandemic and ordering from Deliveroo meant people who were self-isolating could have medication delivered to their doors in as little as 30 minutes. This partnership has already helped thousands of families and households and we’re looking forward to riding to the rescue of cold, headache and sore-throat sufferers across the UK.”

Kevin Birch, chief retail officer at LloydsPharmacy, said: “Pharmacies offer customers and patients healthcare advice, services, and prescriptions, but they also provide over the counter medicines for minor ailments and sickness. Although LloydsPharmacy patients can order online for next day delivery, through our extended partnership with Deliveroo, more patients across the UK can access the care supplies they need in just 30 minutes."

Mr Birch added: "We’re committed to improving patient care, giving them greater choice and control as to how, where, and when they access care and medicines. The extension of our partnership with Deliveroo plays an important role in that mission."
