Deliveroo to give free food to homeless people in London

The Salvation Army cadettes Sarah O'Grady (L) and Claire Kinsey (R) with a Deliveroo rider

Homeless Londoners are to receive regular free Deliveroo meals.

The company has joined forces with the Salvation Army to provide food to the charity’s shelters in north and east London, and plans to expand the initiative across the capital.

Two Deliveroo Editions kitchens, in Swiss Cottage and Blackwall, will make frequent deliveries of meals from restaurants to Cambria House in Camden and the Riverside Complex in Westferry.

Both shelters are run by the Salvation Army, providing homeless people with residential accommodation, housing advice, and life-skills coaching.

It comes as latest figures revealed the number of rough sleepers in London has soared by nearly a third in the past year.

Deliveroo UK & Ireland managing director Dan Warne said: “Our partnership is about doing what we can to support our local community.”
