Deliveroo reveals two of the most popular lockdown orders in Dublin

Burgers and burritos are the two foods that kept Dubliners going through the lockdown, Dublin Live has learnt.

The two all-time favourite dishes made up for a staggering 42% of the the total main meal orders across the capital over the three months of lockdown.

Here's what we've discovered:

  • Burgers from Bunsen and Wowburger came at the top, while burrito fans sunk their teeth into delicious meals from Boojum and Tolteca
  • In fact, hungry customers in University College Dublin literally ordered nothing but burritos and burgers
  • Customers in Sallynoggin enjoyed a bit of variety to their meals as their most popular order was spicy chicken wings with blue cheese dressing from Elephant & Castle
  • Sydney Parade seem to have the most diverse tastbuds of all with a wide range of orders from various cuisines like Indian, Hawaiin poke, Middle Eastern, Italian, Thai, Chinese, Mexican, and American

  • As for vegetarian orders, St Stephen's Green went gaga over the Palestinain falafel by Umi Falafel
  • Arran Quay, Hybreasal, and St Stephen’s Green mostly opted for meat-free dishes
  • Fizz addicts Dublin 2, Rathmines, and Ballsbridge ordered the most coke to drink with their meals
  • Time fries when you're having fun - which is what hungry customers in City Hall, Donnybrook, and Dublin 2 discovered as they tucked into the most portions of chips
  • Donnybrook, Dublin 1, and the Financial Services Centre found their soymates in sushi and other delicious Japanese dishes
  • Customers in Hybreasal, Ranelagh, and Rialto all had a slice day after ordering from Base Wood Fired Pizza
  • Group ordering overtook single orders for the first time as Dubliners were working from home and staying indoors all the time
  • More people started eating earlier in general as average orders on a weekday would usually peak at approx 7.30pm, this shifted to 20 mins earlier in the day

  • Friday was the most popular day of the week for takeaway compared to Saturday

Arabella Jenkins at Deliveroo said: “The lockdown meant daily routines were turned upside down and inside out.

"It’s no surprise then that Deliveroo order data over these months has revealed some differences in what, when and how customers were eating.

"In case Dubliners were wondering if they were alone in their cravings, Deliveroo has revealed the most popular dishes and interesting eating trends observed in the city, from Monkstown to Mount Brown."
