Deliveroo offers £500 free credit to those missing out on their holidays to Spain

Disappointed holidaymakers who had been bound for Spain but are left stranded at home because of the pandemic are being offered some cheer with a chance of enjoying a taste of abroad for free, courtesy of Deliveroo.

The delivery service is running a competition as a summer treat for those missing out on their Spanish holidays and is offering them a chance of winning £500 free credit for a week of wining and dining locally - and that applies to visiting restaurants as well as delivery and pick-up.

There will be five winners but those interested in entering have only until Monday, August 10 to do so. The deadline is noon that day.

The competition idea came following the update in restrictions for Brits travelling to Spain which resulted in a reported 500,000 tourists either delaying or cancelling their eagerly-awaited trips, says Deliveroo.

It added that the competition is "an attempt to offer a small slice of redemption for the (un)lucky ones".

Those wanting to enter should go to Deliveroo’s Instagram account here or Twitter account here, tag those they were due to trave with - if applicable - and include the location and dates of their cancelled holiday to Spain along with the #CostaDeliveroo hashtag.

Five winners will be randomly selected next week and awarded the credit prize of £500.

This credit can be used at any of the thousands of restaurants available on the Deliveroo app or its website in the UK.

Deliveroo’s new Table Service function is also now available so winners could also choose to use their credit to dine-in at restaurants unless they want to redeem it through pick-up or delivery.

For full terms and conditions relating to the competition see here.
