Deliveroo now lets you round up your bill and send additional funds to the NHS

With the UK now in its seventh week of lockdown, many Brits have been relying on food delivery apps including Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

Now, Deliveroo has launched a new tool that lets you turn your takeaway into a charity donation.

Users can now choose to round up their bill to the nearest pound, with the additional funds either sent to the NHS or used to fund free vouchers for NHS workers.

Will Shu, CEO and Co-founder of Deliveroo, said: “We’ve seen incredible support from customers and our partners to bring free meals to NHS workers.

“We hope this new fundraising tool makes it even easier for customers to donate to help us deliver even more meals to those working on the frontline in the NHS.”

The new tool will roll out on the app this week, and will give customers the choice to round up their bill or add a set amount of money to their bill.

All additional funds will go towards the cost of delivering meals to the NHS or new vouchers for NHS workers.

Any excess funding will be given directly to the NHS.

Deliveroo has also made another 30,000 £20 vouchers available to NHS workers, building on a previous 50,000 free vouchers for NHS works.

The announcement marks the celebration of what would have been Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday today

Mr Shu added: “We want to recognise and celebrate Florence Nightingale’s work on the frontline all those years ago as well as the incredible work nurses and all NHS staff are doing right now.”
