Deliveroo links up with M&S and BP to make sure self-isolating coronavirus sufferers can get food orders

Food delivery outfit Deliveroo has unveiled a partnership with BP petrol stations and Marks & Spencer stores to help anyone self-isolating as a precaution against coronavirus.

The service has teamed up with around 120 M&S franchises.

M&S products such as milk, bread and juices, and a range of pizzas and ready-meals - will be available to order and picked up from the stations, BirminghamLive reports.

Founder and chief executive of Deliveroo, Will Shu, stated: "At Deliveroo, we want to do everything possible to help people get the food they want and need during this worrying period.

"We hope we can play a role in supporting people who have to isolate to get the food they need, whether that's household items or restaurant food."

The firm has operated through the early stages of the outbreak when pubs and restuants were shut, except for takeaway services.

A hardship fund has been set up for Deliveroo riders, who are considered "self-employed", and any forced to self-isolate are receiving payment if they provide a medical certificate.

Meanwhile, Uber Eats last week offered free delivery for independent restaurant partners as part of a set of relief measures for businesses affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

Both Deliveroo and Uber Eats were operating hands-free deliveries - leaving food on doorsteps to enforce social distancing - if requested by customers.
