Deliveroo launches NINE new delivery-only restaurants in Bristol

By Mark Taylor

Deliveroo has launched its first delivery-only site in Bristol, which will allow customers to order food from nine new restaurants within minutes.

The food delivery firm has created a special ‘Editions Kitchen’ at Purdown in north Bristol.

It’s Deliveroo’s first new delivery-only site in more than three years, since they launched one in Manchester in 2018.

The company pioneered the creation of delivery-only ‘Editions Kitchens’ in April 2017 and now has 18 sites across the country with over 120 kitchens representing 60 restaurant groups.

The new site in Bristol will have nine restaurant partners in total, hosting a range of restaurants, each with their own state-of-the-art kitchens and staff at Purdown.

The restaurants use their own trained chefs, just as they do in their bricks and mortar restaurants, and Deliveroo supplies the kitchens and appliances.

Customers place an order on the app, just as they would when ordering from a restaurant, and the same process applies, with a rider picking up an order from the Editions site and delivering it to the customer.

Which restaurants will deliver from the site?

The restaurants are a mixture of national chains and independents, including Bristol’s own Oowee Diner, and the new Purdown site has created 51 new jobs.

The launch means that people in Bristol can now order food from burger chain Byron - which closed its bricks and mortar site in Bristol in 2018 - sushi restaurant Zumu, fried chicken business Coqfighter and Indian restaurant Kricket.

Food from The Athenian, Kokoro, Pasta Evangelists and Honi Poke/Sushi will also be available to Bristol Deliveroo customers.

The launch of the delivery-only site in Bristol will help provide an additional source of revenue for the restaurant partners and allow them to attract even more customers without the cost of setting up a new restaurant.

The new site will reach the majority of the Bristol population, providing many locals with access to the Deliveroo service for the first time and delivered in under 30 minutes.

Meera Mittel, Deliveroo’s Editions Director, said: “We truly love the food scene in Bristol, which is why we are excited to be opening our first delivery-only site in this brilliant city with nine new restaurant partners.

“Bristolians can now enjoy amazing new food from a whole host of the best-loved restaurants, delivered in under 30 minutes. The new site aims to help increase business for our restaurant partners and create even more work opportunities for site staff and riders.”

Finn Lagun, co-founder of London-based Pasta Evangelists, said: "We are delighted to be bringing our freshly made pasta and sauces to the people of Bristol in partnership with Deliveroo. This marks the first time Pasta Evangelists has appeared on Deliveroo outside of London, an expansion made possible by Deliveroo Editions, we look forward to feeding the city with an abundance of delicious pasta!”
