Deliveroo is looking for 15,000 new riders

Deliveroo is on the look out for thousands of new riders will after demand soared for takeaways during lockdown.

The company said that it is set to "work with" an extra 15,000 riders as Deliveroo does not employ those who deliver food for its platform.

The new recruitment drive comes after the delivery company racked up more than 11,500 new restaurants and 16 supermarkets and other grocery stores to its platform.

Chief executive Will Shu said: "Riders are heroes and we are so proud of the vital role that they are carrying out in their local communities during the pandemic.

"It is fantastic that we can now recruit even more riders and will create a record 15,000 new opportunities by the end of the year.

"With a record number of riders and restaurant partners on the platform, we can now reach even more amazing customers across the UK, delivering the food that people need and want."

People who want to join Deliveroo as a rider can apply via their website here.

Riders can make up to £120 a day and get to keep all of their tips for themselves.

There are just three things you need:

  • Proof of your right to work in the UK
