Deliveroo is launching a grocery delivery service - and your shopping will be on your doorstep in half an hour

Delivery company Deliveroo is launching a new service that will allow people to order essential groceries to their doorsteps.

The brand has announced a new partnership with Marks & Spencer and BP, hoping to provide access to household essentials for those in isolation.

Around 60 M&S products will be listed on the Deliveroo app, including milk, bread, fruit juices, and ready meals.

Delivery of the products will be completely free of charge, and should be delivered to homes within 30 minutes.

The partnership will be run through 120 M&S franchise stores at BP petrol stations.

In addition to this, Deliveroo is rolling out 'Essentials by Deliveroo', a selection of convenience items such as cereal, rice, biscuits and tinned goods that can be delivered.

This service is particularly aimed at the elderly and vulnerable who are at home.

Already live in Cambridge, Essentials by Deliveroo will now be launching in Reading, Brighton, Nottingham, Manchester, Leeds and London over the next fortnight, before being introduced in the UAE, France, Spain and Australia.

Co-op has a similar partnership across 400 of its stores, providing access to household items seven days a week in under 30 minutes.

Will Shu, founder and CEO of Deliveroo, said: "At Deliveroo, we want to do everything possible to help people get the food they want and need during this worrying period.

"We hope we can play a role in supporting people who have to isolate to get the food they need whether that’s household items or restaurant food."
