Deliveroo brings back Nineties favourite Heinz Beanz pizza

If Nineties food nostalgia has you salivating at the thought of Hubba Bubba, Cheesestrings and Nik Naks, your taste buds are in for a treat.

To celebrate American food company Heinz’s 150th birthday this year, Deliveroo is bringing back the Heinz Beanz Pizza.

The pizza was discontinued in 2003, much to the disappointment of bean fans.

In 2017, a change.org petition was launched calling for the “childhood favourite” to return to supermarket shelves.

Now, Deliveroo is teaming up with Heinz and a network of UK restaurants to offer customers vegan and non-vegan versions of the pizza.

Ingredients used to make the original pizza include tomato and basil sauce, mozzarella, 350g original Heinz Beanz, mature grated cheese, and a sprinkle of Maldon salt and fresh ground pepper.

But if you want to get your hands on the beany pizza alternative, you’ll have to be quick.

Only 150 limited-edition Heinz Beanz Pizzas will be available per restaurant, whilst stocks last.

The Heinz Baked Pizza will be on offer, through Deliveroo, from pizza restaurants including Joe Public (London), Pizza Punks (Glasgow, Newcastle and Belfast) and Proove (Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield).

Joe Groves, a PR representative at Delivero, says: “The Heinz Beanz Pizza was an absolute 90s cult classic, so we're sprinkling a touch of magic and bringing it back into customers’ homes for 2019.”

The pizza is priced at £7.50 in honour of the 75p retail price of a tin of Heinz Beanz.

Its return comes after a recent study found that Baked beans were among the top items homesick Britons have been getting shipped across the globe.

In November, figures showed that nearly 6,000 tins of Heinz baked beans were shipped to expats in the US in the 12 months prior.

The Heinz Beanz Pizza will be exclusively available on Deliveroo from 29 March.
