Delighted owner reunited with missing dog after five-day search in West Lothian

Rachel Cherry had all but given up on finding her beloved dog Nala after the pooch went missing last week.

Strong winds had blown down her garden fence in Dechmont, West Lothian, causing the Bichon Frise Shih Tzu cross to escape and get hit by a car.

There was a desperate search in the woods near the A89 with Nala believed to be hiding near the old Bangour Village Hospital.

Rachel even slept out there overnight, saying she just wanted "closure" as the days went on.

But on Sunday night Nala was finally discovered after five days of searching.  Many locals joined in to help her, with drivers on the A89 keeping an eye out.

Her delighted owner posted a video of the moment she was returned, saying Nala was in good health.

It shows her saying "Oh my God - hi gorgeous!" as her pet is carried over to her.

She said: "NALA HAS BEEN FOUND After 5 days of tracking scenting and sleeping in woods she’s been caught and in good health

"Thank you to all the help from everyone really appreciate it x"
