'Delighted' - Matty Cash's message after winning prestigious Nottingham Forest award

Matty Cash admits he was delighted to see his name among a list of Nottingham Forest legends.

The Reds right-back was crowned Forest’s Player of the Season on Wednesday, winning the award by quite some distance to Lewis Grabban and Brice Samba who came second and third respectively.

Cash claimed 60 percent of the vote for his terrific debut season on the right side of Sabri Lamouchi’s defence, and takes the prestigious award off last year’s winner Joe Lolley.

“Delighted to have won our player of the season,” Cash wrote on Twitter. “A big thank you to you, the supporters, who voted for me. Also my team mates, my family, the manager, all the staff and @simply_sport.”

In his 42 appearances, Cash scored three times and came up with five assists – while he also managed to rack up 110 tackles and 125 clearances.

It’s that level of consistency which has seen Cash linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with West Ham, Sheffield United and Southampton all keen on tempting him away from the City Ground.

Meanwhile, Reds fans were full of praise for the 23-year-old, believing he was a deserved winner.
