'Delighted' - Gary Brazil hails Nottingham Forest academy after title triumph

Gary Brazil has praised the whole Nottingham Forest academy set-up, after the Reds’ Under-23 side were crowned league champions.

Chris Cohen’s men were six points clear at the top of the Professional Development League when Covid-19 saw it brought to a shuddering halt having won 14 of their 21 matches, losing just twice.

The campaign was called off in May, and the youngsters have now been handed the title by virtue of a points-per-game scenario, finishing above Burnley and Leeds United.

Forest’s last game in the North division was a thumping 5-0 win at Bolton Wanderers, their fifth victory in six league and cup outings.

"I'm delighted for the whole academy set-up,” said academy chief Gary Brazil.

“Every member of staff involved through all the age groups has a part to play in player development and this achievement is a reflection of all their hard work, both on and off the pitch."

Meanwhile, Gareth Holmes’ Under-18 side finished in fifth place after their campaign suffered the same fate – Wigan Athletic took the championship in that division.
