Delight in Bray as new restaurant The Old House opens in spot where Pizza N Cream used to be

Bray is back in business this week as a well-loved pizza spot has reopened with some new owners.

At the end of last year the town was in mourning after Pizza & Cream shut its doors after 33 years in business.

The spot had been the venue for many of the town's greatest love stories and its closure saw an outpour of affection from local couples who recalled having their first dates there.

Now 'The Old House' has opened in the same spot and the delicious Italian dish is being served up once again on Albert Walk.

In a post in The Bray Open Forum, the new team announced the great news and hope everyone will come down and enjoy their pizza in the sun.

Adrian Florea said: "We are happy to reopen a dearest place in Bray that used to be Pizza N Cream.

"The Old House Pizzeria will offer from now a tasty home made pizza from our wood fire oven.

"Feel free to visit us starting from today [June 8] on Albert Walk and enjoy the sunshine in our back garden. All the best!"

Posting pictures with the post, they showed off a fine looking wood fire oven and happy staff donning the new kit.

The post received a huge reaction from locals who were delighted to see the spot open up again.

Replying to questions, Adrian said they're hoping to do deliveries soon, and that they're still adding bits and bobs to the menu as they go.

The old owners, Andrew Holmes, Ann Nolan, and Mary Nolan, had been running the joint on Albert Walk since 1985, but have sadly decided to closeas business became more scarce in recent years.

Mary told Dublin Live Mary they were "blown away and overwhelmed" after hundreds of people shared their memories of the restaurant upon hearing the said news.

She said: "It's been emotional reading over what everyone had to say, we never realised we had made so much of a mark on people here.

"We're blown away and overwhelmed by it, but sadly the business had gone quiet and we had to make the hard decision."

Hundreds had recalled their happy memories of the restaurant with many ex-staff thanking the owners for the great times.

One wrote: "So sad to hear the news, I spent some fabulous years working with the most amazing people - friends and memories for life."

Another said: "End of an era.....very sad to see P'n'C close its doors.

"I worked there for a number of years while in school and college.

"Great food and met brilliant people over the years. Scrubbing boards, prepping veg and making dough....serving 'upstairs', being on 'ovens' and making pizzas, I did it all....and LOVED it. Farewell".

The spot was also a bit of a love nest with many saying they had their first date their better halves there.

One woman said: "So very sad to hear this, I had my first date with my husband here nearly 20 years ago and we've been so many times with our kids and parents and always loved the atmosphere and the food - all the best for the future."

Another said: "One of my first dates with now hubby was there, over 18 years ago!"
