Delight for Late Late Toy Show star as he meets Taoiseach Leo Varadkar

One of the stars of last year's Late Late Toy Show got to meet Taoiseach Leo Varadkar - after reuniting with host Ryan Tubridy.

Kerry boy Michael O'Brien charmed the nation after meeting Wexford hurling boss Davy Fitzgerald on the Toy Show last November.

The GAA mad youngster, who is visually impaired, made a return to RTE Studios in Donnybrook, Dublin on Thursday morning.

Michael spoke with Tubridy on RTE Radio One, ahead of his appearance in the documentary When Michael Met Davy - which will air on August 5 at 6.30pm.

And as he was leaving the studio, he shook hands with Varadkar, who was about to be interviewed on Today With Sean O'Rourke.

Earlier this year, Davy Fitz fulfilled a promise he made to 11-year-old Michael as the youngster gave the Wexford team a pep talk before their Allianz League win over Tipperary.

The young GAA fan told the Toy Show last year his favourite manager is the Wexford boss.

Speaking to his idol, Michael said: "I have your book in the back, right? And I need you to sign it."

Fitzgerald remarked that "he could do" with someone like Michael around, before telling him that he needs a "small bit of help".

He explained: "We have three important league games coming up. We're playing Limerick, we're playing Tipp and we're playing Kilkenny.

"I'd like you to come, maybe speak to the team before we go out, have a chat with them. Would you be up for something like that?"

Without skipping a beat, Michael took the Wexford manager up on his offer, telling him: "That's a deal."

Davy came through on his promise to Michael, who prepped the Wexford team in Innovate Park before their victory over Tipperary.

Speaking about Michael's team talk, Wexford senior hurling coach Seoirse Bufflin said: "Absolute privilege to have Michael O’ Brien with Wexford GAA today. What an inspiration to kids and adults alike.

"You could hear a pin drop when he spoke to the players before the game. A truly super young man."

It seems as though whatever Michael said did the trick for the team, who won 1-15 to 1-14.
