Perthshire ’s only Michelin starred restaurant has maintained its two star status for 2021.
The Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at the Gleneagles Hotel remains the only two-starred facility in Scotland.
The restaurant is currently overlooked by head chef Stephen McLaughlin, who worked closely with the late Andrew Fairlie for many years.
Michelin says the restaurant serves “refined cooking” with a “French heart and a Scottish soul”.
Along with the rest of Gleneagles, the Andrew Fairlie will remain closed until March 15 at the earliest.
Roseanna Cunningham, MSP for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire, welcomed the news.
She said: ““Going out to a Michelin-starred restaurant may seem a long way from lockdowns and hard times, but this is an incredibly tough time for the restaurant business, as it is in so many other sectors, so it is good to be able to celebrate good news and success.
“It is now two years, almost to the day since Andrew Fairlie died, far too young, and it is great to see his legacy sustained by the restaurant that still bears his name.
“Whether it is prize winning pies from Murrray’s, space age haggis from Howie’s or the continued success of Restaurant Andrew Fairlie as the pinnacle of fine dining in this country, there is no doubting Perthshire ’s well-deserved reputation as home to the very best of Scottish food and drink.”
Restaurant Andrew Fairlie also played a part in Glasgow gaining a Michelin starred restaurant.
Cail Bruich head chef Lorna McKee began her career at the Andre Fairlie and went on to work as a sous chef there.
