Delight as dog who vanished after being thrown from car during crash found safe

A woman who launched a desperate search to find her dog after it was thrown from her car during a crash has been reunited with her pet.

Amanda Henry, from Kilkerran in South Ayrshire, was driving on the Minishant to Crosshill road on October 14 when her vehicle was involved in a collision.

At the time she had three dogs in a secure cage which was fitted to the interior of the car.

Following the crash the dogs ran off after the cage was forced open. Two were found, but Holly, went missing.

Last night, however, Amanda confirmed that she has now been found.

The 18-month-old English Springer Spaniel was reunited with her owners Amanda and husband George after vanishing for 16 days.

After Holly turned up Amanda couldn't contain her excitement, she said: "Ecstatic is understatement of the century."

The 47-year-old vet was rushed to hospital in Ayr after her car flipped three times and ended up in a field.

Following the collision she required 30 stitches to her head and was treated for a fracture to her spine.

She is now in a back brace for 12 weeks to enable her recovery, which hampered her attempts to search for Holly.

After Holly was found Amanda took to Facebook to reveal she was found and has been reunited with her.

"I don’t know you but have followed every minute of this as I was flat on my back last year for 5 months and would of been totally distraught if it had been my boys.
