'Deliberate' fire at Milton flat as police launch investigation

Police are probing a 'deliberate' fire in Milton which saw six fire crews called into action.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service rushed to Scaraway Terrace in the north of Glasgow yesterday evening after reports of a fire within a flat.

The crews successfully tackled the blaze and there were no casualties, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.

A police investigation into the incident is underway.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7:45pm on Monday 11 May 2020, police received a report of a fire at a property in Scaraway Terrace, Glasgow.

"Early indications are that the fire was set deliberately and enquiries are ongoing."

Meanwhile, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service advised Glasgow Live: "We were alerted at 7.15pm on Monday, May 11 to reports of a dwelling fire in the Milton area of Glasgow.

"Operations Control mobilised six appliances to the city's Scaraway Terrace, where firefighters were met by a fire within a flat.

"Firefighters extinguished the fire and made the area safe before leaving the scene.

"There were no casualties."
