Deliberate fire at Braes Golf Centre 'caused extensive damage' as cops issue appeal

A deliberate fire which "caused extensive damage" at a golfing range in Falkirk is still being probed by police.

Officers along with crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to Braes Golf Centre in Maddiston on Thursday April 21, following reports of a blaze.

They arrived to find artificial sports turf well alight, which left extensive damage to the site.

The fire is thought to have started some time between 9pm and 10.40pm that evening and anyone with information is being asked to contact police on 101.

Nobody was injured.

A statement on Forth Valley Police Division Facebook page said: "We are looking for information regarding a fire raising at Braes Golf Centre, Maddiston which occurred on the evening of the 21st April 2022 between 2100hrs and 2240hrs which caused extensive damage to artificial sports turf.

"PC Boyle of the local Community Team has asked that anyone with information come forward in an effort to identify those responsible.

"Incidents such as this impact upon local businesses and facilities along with requiring the support and assistance of our partners at Scottish Fire and Rescue.

"If you have any information please contact Police via 101 and quote reference number PS-20220421-3765."
