Delhi Weather Today: Heavy rainfall to continue; check which parts of the city will be hit till August 10

Delhi is expected to witness another spell of moderate rainfall on Thursday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for the national capital. The forecast comes as active monsoon conditions continue over Delhi-NCR, following widespread showers that brought traffic disruptions and waterlogging in several areas earlier this week.

The weather department has said that a generally cloudy sky, accompanied by light to moderate rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds, is likely to prevail. Rainfall activity is expected to continue over Delhi until 10 August, according to the latest forecast.

Yellow alert issued for several parts of Delhi

Based on the latest IMD district-wise forecast, a yellow alert has been issued for the following parts of Delhi:

  • North Delhi
  • North-West Delhi
  • North-East Delhi
  • Central Delhi
  • West Delhi
  • East Delhi
  • New Delhi
  • South-West Delhi
  • South Delhi
  • South-East Delhi

The alert indicates the possibility of moderate rainfall, thunderstorms and localised waterlogging, and residents are advised to stay updated with official weather advisories.

Rain likely to continue until 10 August

The IMD has forecast that intermittent rain will continue over the capital during the coming days as monsoon conditions remain favourable.

The city is expected to experience a generally cloudy sky, with spells of rain providing relief from high daytime temperatures, although humidity levels are likely to remain elevated.

Weather after Tuesday's rainfall

Several parts of Delhi received rain earlier this week, offering temporary respite from hot and humid weather.

Among the city's weather monitoring stations, Ayanagar recorded the highest rainfall during Tuesday's spell, according to the IMD.

The showers brought down temperatures in many areas, although humid conditions persisted after the rain.

Delhi temperature today

According to the IMD forecast:

  • Maximum temperature: Around 33°C
  • Minimum temperature: Around 24°C

The combination of cloud cover and rainfall is expected to keep daytime temperatures below recent highs.

IMD advises caution during thunderstorms

The weather department has urged residents to remain cautious as thunderstorms and gusty winds may accompany rainfall.

People are advised to:

  • Avoid sheltering under trees during thunderstorms.
  • Stay away from waterlogged roads where possible.
  • Drive carefully as visibility may reduce during heavy showers.
  • Follow the latest IMD weather updates before travelling.

Weather alerts issued across north India

Apart from Delhi, the IMD has issued weather warnings for several neighbouring states.

A red alert has been issued for Patiala district in Punjab, where thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds of up to 60 kmph and heavy rainfall are expected.

Meanwhile, an orange alert remains in place for Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Sangrur and Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (SAS Nagar) in Punjab, as well as Amethi, Ayodhya, Barabanki, Fatehpur, Hardoi, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Lucknow, Pratapgarh, Raebareli and Unnao in Uttar Pradesh due to the likelihood of thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds and moderate to heavy rainfall.

Residents in Delhi are advised to stay alert and monitor official weather updates throughout the day.
