Delhi: UP ATS raids residence, offices of cleric arrested for 'illegal conversion'

LUCKNOW: A 12-member team of Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (UPATS) raided the residence and offices of Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Uttar Pradesh additional director general of police, Prashant Kumar said that raids were carried out at the house of Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui in Okhla and his offices at Global Peace Centre, World Peace Centre, all in Shaheen Bagh area of New Delhi.

Kumar said that cleric Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui ran the biggest conversion syndicate across the country and was arrested on September 22.

ATS also said that donations through 'hawala' in a trust operated by him have also been recovered.

UP ATS had also arrested three other associates of Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui who were identified as Idris Qureshi, Saleem and Kunal Ashok alias Atif on September 26.
