Delhi: Stampede-like situation after blaze at school in Maujpur

NEW DELHI: A fire took place at Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Maujpur on Friday. The blaze erupted in an electric panel board, said the fire department. As soon as it started, children started running out, and in the melee, five fell and received minor injuries.

According to the fire department, they received the call at 10.38 am and five tenders were rushed to the site.

Atul Garg, director of Delhi Fire Service, said that by 1.30 pm, they controlled the blaze. "A stampede-like situation occurred when the fire started and five children aged between 11 and 15 years got minor injuries. They were taken to a hospital for treatment," Garg said.

Short circuit is suspected to be the reason behind the incident.
