NEW DELHI: A farmer in Dwarka's Chawla area has been arrested by the Delhi Police for reportedly burning stubble on his farmland, as disclosed by an official on Friday.
The police received information about the stubble burning in the early hours of Thursday, prompting a prompt response from the Chawla police station team.
Unfortunately, by the time they arrived, the stubble was already consumed by fire, necessitating the intervention of a fire tender.
Following an inquiry, the farmer, identified as Om Prakash, was charged under sections of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act and other relevant legal provisions. Subsequently, he obtained bail from the court.
The arrest aligns with the Delhi government's measures to curb stubble burning in light of the escalating pollution levels in the city.
