NEW DELHI: Delhi government will soon turn old age homes into state-of-the-art facilities.
In a review meeting with officials of the social welfare department, minister Rajendra Pal Gautam issued directions to upgrade the facilities at the existing homes for senior citizens as per “world class” standards.
The social welfare department currently runs four old age homes, while five are under-construction and three in the planning stage. While the combined capacity of the four old age homes, located in Bindapur, Wazirpur, Tahirpur and Kanti Nagar, is over 500, about 250 senior citizens are currently staying in them.
