Delhi notifies permanent Winter Pollution Master Plan; year-round PUC rule among key measures

The Delhi government has notified a permanent Winter Pollution Master Plan, under which a set of anti-pollution measures will be implemented annually from November 1 to February 28.

According to the notification, the plan includes stricter measures on vehicle emissions, construction activities and waste burning.

The government has also mandated that fuel will be supplied only to vehicles with a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. This provision will apply throughout the year.

As part of the winter measures, demolition and civil construction activities will be prohibited from November 1 to January 31.

The plan also provides for 50% work from home for offices and double parking charges to take effect from November 1.

The Delhi Chief Minister's Office said the Winter Pollution Master Plan has been notified and that the rules will remain in force every year from November 1 to February 28.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, "Keeping Delhi clean and healthy requires everyone's participation."
