Delhi: Juveniles kill 12-year-old to teach him a lesson, held in Mundka

NEW DELHI: Two juveniles, both aged 17, were apprehended for killing a 12-year-old boy in outer Delhi's Mundka on Thursday. Police said one of the accused was involved in a sexual assault case in 2019 and was released in March 2022 from an observation home.

The deceased boy’s family members claimed that the killer took the extreme action because he suspected the 12-year-old had informed others about the sexual assault he committed on a minor girl.

Police said that on Thursday around 4pm, they received a police control room call from the deceased's sister about the incident. "At the murder spot, the complainant handed over one of the juveniles to us. He admitted to the boy’s sister that he and his friend had killed him near the railway line," Sameer Sharma, DCP (Outer) said on Saturday.

The cops rushed to the railway track and found the body of the 12-year-old boy. His throat had been slit and his head showed severe injuries. A police officer said, "After nabbing one of the teens, we apprehended the other juvenile suspect too. They attacked the victim with a blade and brick. We have seized the weapons of offence."

The officer said, "On Wednesday, both juveniles had thrashed the victim but he managed to escape. The accused had warned him that the two of them would teach him a lesson. On Thursday, as per plan, the duo caught the boy near the railway line. One of them held his hands and the other hit him on his head with a brick and then slit his neck."

The deceased was a native of Jharkhand and a school dropout. While speaking to TOI, the 18-year-old sister of the deceased said that her brother went out of the house in the morning to play and did not return. "It was raining heavily on Thursday and when my mother went outside to search for my brother, she couldn’t locate him. Around 3.30pm, my brother's friends came to my house with the 17-year-old suspect and they informed me about the murderer," she said.

The accused confessed his crime to the sister. “He told me that he had taught my brother a lesson for testifying against him in a sexual assault case in 2019. My brother never gave any testimony of the sort, but he was killed on mere suspicion," she sobbed.

The sister also claimed that a day before the incident, her brother was beaten up by the suspect and his friend but he had remained silent "We were to leave Delhi on July 26, but my brother was killed just before that," she said. The main accused also lives in Mundka and is a school dropout.
