Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia says no entry to unvaccinated staffers

NEW DELHI: In order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Jamia Millia Islamia has threatened action against staff members who have not taken even one dose of the vaccine.

Issuing an order, the registrar of the university, Nazim Husain Jafri, said, "According to the guidelines issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, the varsity vice-chancellor has approved that from January 3, only employees who have taken at least one dose of any Covid vaccine will be given entry in the respective department/offices."

The order adds that those who have not taken any dose of vaccine will not be allowed to come to the offices.

"Action will be taken against them as per the rules of the university. The period of absence from duties of such employees will be treated as 'on leave' till the administration of the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine," said the notice.

The university will itself be verified by the head of the department/offices concerned through Arogya Setu application/certificate of the vaccination completion.
