NEW DELHI: A state-level bodybuilder, a lawyer and two brothers have been arrested for running a drug syndicate in the city.
The bodybuilder, who also worked as a gym trainer, had lost his job during the first lockdown and was unable to earn money. The gang used to procure drug from Manali.
The arrested men are IGNOU alumnus Ankit Nayyar (23), his brother and DU graduate Danish Nayyar (26), lawyer Gaurav Gagrena (29) and bodybuilder Manish Sharma (30). With their arrest, police have recovered 1.2 kg of fine quality charas worth Rs 9.6 lakh and an Altroz car used for drug peddling.
On Thursday, a police team in Kalyanpuri received information that four drug dealers would come on Chilla road in a car. “A police team laid a trap and when the car was spotted, it was signalled to stop, but the driver attempted to speed away. Our team managed to intercept the vehicle and all the four occupants were detained,” said a senior police officer.
