Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal urges parents of govt, MCD school students to attend parent-teacher meet

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday called upon parents with children attending schools under the Delhi government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to participate in a significant parent-teacher meeting (PTM) aimed at discussing their children's progress.

This marks the first time that a two-day "mega" PTM is being organized for both government and MCD schools in the city.

Education Minister Atishi and Deputy Mayor Aaley Mohd Iqbal engaged with parents of students at Veer Savarkar Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Kalkaji and MCD Primary School in Govindpuri ahead of the scheduled meeting.

In a post on X, Kejriwal expressed, "Parents play a pivotal role in their children's success. Today, all schools under the Delhi government and the MCD are observing Parents' Day. Today and tomorrow (Saturday), a mega PTM is scheduled in all these schools."

He went on to request all parents to, as always, visit their children's schools with their kids, engage with the teachers regarding their children's progress, and openly deliberate on how they can collectively enhance the future.

Education Minister Atishi echoed the Chief Minister's sentiments, mentioning the first-ever two-day mega PTM scheduled for October 13 and October 14 in all Delhi government and MCD schools. This extension aims to facilitate greater parental involvement. She emphasized that this year's PTM arrangements are akin to a festive celebration and parents actively engage in discussions with teachers about their children's learning, performance, and strategies for improvement.

Atishi stressed the Kejriwal government's commitment to transforming MCD schools, with parental participation being a key factor influencing academic achievements.

"After Delhi government schools, our priority is now to transform MCD schools. But in this process of change, parents have the most important role to play. The higher the involvement of parents in their children's education, the better the academic performance of the children," she said.

Deputy Mayor Iqbal noted the enthusiasm among both children and parents for the mega PTM. Parents of children in MCD schools, in particular, are excited about this new experience and hope for a similar transformation in their children's schools as seen in Delhi government schools.
