Delhi: ABVP holds protest, NSUI writes to National Testing Agency and Centre on CUET

NEW DELHI: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Monday held a protest at the National Testing Agency (NTA) regarding irregularities that have been taking place with regards to the common universities entrance test (CUET).

The students’ body also demanded that the schedules of examinations like Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) be declared without any further delay. ABVP’s state secretary Akshit Dahiya said, “Through this protest, we have put forth our demand to remove the irregularities faced by students at the earliest and to announce the already delayed examination. This will not only solve the problems of the students but will also assure them of their future plans.”

Senior NTA officials met the protesters and assured them that necessary steps would be taken. “The NTA has assured that all technical and non-technical problems will be resolved at the earliest and the delayed examinations like JNUET, DUET, NET and so on will also be conducted with the announcement of the exam schedule at the earliest,” ABVP said.

Meanwhile, National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) wrote to the education ministry, NTA and DU vice-chancellor stating that the CUET should not be conducted till the server issues are not resolved. In its communication to authorities, NSUI said, “Poor management has created stress among students. Some students did not get admit cards while some came to know at the last moment that their exam had been postponed. The delayed communication has been a nightmare for students. Already the session is delayed and the NTA has further escalated the troubles.”

“The stakeholders should be consulted before taking any decision and the centralisation and privatisation of education should be stopped at the earliest. NSUI demands fairness and systematic exams for DU courses,” said Neeraj Kundan, national president, NSUI.
