'Delete' - Tottenham fans left embarrassed by club's Emerson Royal social media post

Tottenham's perfect start to the season came to an end over the weekend.

Nuno Espirito Santo had got off to a productive start in the managerial hot-seat, guiding his side to three successive 1-0 victories in the Premier League, a record that left them top of the table going into Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace.

However, the Eagles dominated the fiery contest from start to finish, registering 18 shots whilst Spurs could muster just two as Patrick Vieira's men picked up all three points, defeating the north Londoners 3-0.

Spurs struggled to deal with Palace winger Wilfried Zaha all afternoon as the English youngster Japhet Tanganga clashed with the Ivorian international before being sent off for a careless challenge on Andre Ayew.

Deadline day signing Emerson Royal also found it difficult to deal with Zaha's trickery on his Tottenham debut but that didn't stop Spurs' official Twitter account from posting a picture of the two tussling, with a caption of "Debut", accompanied by a crown emoji.

A large section of the club's fanbase took to social media to voice their frustrations with the post. Here is how a select few reacted.

@Losgrantos : "We lost 3-0 and he got spun more than a washing machine! Delete the tweet maybe."

@RachelVMartin : "It might be best to just draw a veil over yesterday."

@COYSonny7 : "Bro he got bullied yesterday let’s not do this lol."

@Jamesfthickett : "Assume this is supposed to be humorous? He spent an entire afternoon chasing Zaha’s shadow..."

@commercialkid : "He did alright for his first time. Don’t remember Zaha gliding past him many times. Do remember Zaha moaning and throwing his hands around. Felt sorry for Tanganga wasn’t exactly a Xhaha type tackle but it was tad aggressive."

@28NdombeIe : "Let's not lie here he dropped a stinker and we lost 3-0."
