'Delete' Celtic's Brendan Rodgers birthday message doesn't go as planned as angry fans hit back

Having won eight trophies from eight and had an invincible season, Brendan Rodgers would be forgiven for thinking Celtic fans could never hate him.

Then you quit halfway through the treble Treble season to join Leicester and you're the worst person ever to have lived.

Celtic decided to wish their former boss a Happy Birthday on Twitter- as often happens.

But it didn't go down quite as well as they might have hoped.

Their tweet said: "Happy Birthday to Double Treble winning Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers" with images of the Northern Irishman holding the Scottish Cup and the open top bus parade.

But fans weren’t happy with hundreds of supporters simply saying: “Delete”.

@HereCelts said: “So how come he didn’t win the treble treble…”

@LaineyDonnel added: For god’s sake. He sneaked out the back door at a crucial point of the season and tried to take our staff.”

@yoda_the_tim said: “Just made a good Sunday bad.”

@S_hertheston added: “Would check his birth certificate… his birthdays probs in July the lying b******”

@AtownColm had a topical reply as he said: “Year of the rat”
