'Delete before rival fans see!' - Arsenal fans embarrassed at what the Gunners have done

Arsenal's start to the season has been far from ideal.

The Gunners currently sit bottom of the Premier League table after losing all three of their opening fixtures.

Newly promoted Brentford defeated Mikel Arteta's side 2-0 on the opening day of the season before London rivals Chelsea inflicted a home defeat by the same scoreline upon them.

Arsenal were able to save some face when they travelled to Championship side West Brom in the EFL Cup as club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang bagged a hat-trick in a convincing 6-0 win against the Baggies.

However, this was followed by a 5-0 thrashing at the hand of reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, who dominated the north Londoners from minute one last weekend, with Arteta's men having just one shot across the 90 minutes.

This meant August ended without the Gunners netting a single goal in the league, condemning the club to their worst start to a season since 1954.

Now, Arsenal have released their nominations for the club's goal of the month award, with their six league cup strikes joined by a goal scored by Japanese forward Mana Iwabuchi, who plies her trade for the woman's team.

The Gunners' faithful then took to social media to voice their embarrassment at the nominations as some fans urged the club to hand the award to Iwabuchi considering the men's team performances so far.

Here is how a select few reacted on Twitter to the news.

@ahmedessamsaied: "Not a single goal scored in the league, Embarrassing."

@Afcsammmm: have we put some training goals on have we?

@YoungOmz2: "This is embarrassing delete."

@TheFalseNein: "Give it to Mana, the men’s team do not deserve awards."

@WelBeast: "Did you include goals scored in behind closed door friendlies?"

@PatrickTimmons1: "Delete before rival fans see."
