Dele Alli throws bottle in fit of rage after being subbed off in Champions League final

Tottenham star Dele Alli reacted furiously to being substituted in their Champions League final defeat against Liverpool .

The England ace was withdrawn by boss Mauricio Pochettino after 82 minutes with Fernando Llorente introduced as Spurs chased an equaliser.

Instead, they saw Divock Origi fire in the second goal for the Reds just moments later, condemning the north London club to a heartbreaking final defeat.

Alli struggled to make an impact at the Wanda Metropolitano as they were unable to breakdown Jurgen Klopp's side.

And the 23-year-old was clearly frustrated and angry when he left the field, launching a water bottle a wall as he made his way to the dugout.

Alli is known to wear his heart on his sleeve, and he could not hide his emotions after a disappointing night on the biggest stage in the Spanish capital.

Spurs got off to the worst possible start as Sadio Mane's cross struck the arm of Moussa Sissoko, giving Liverpool a penalty which Mohamed Salah duly converted.

It left Spurs playing catch-up throughout and they were unable to convert a string of opportunities as Alisson Becker made some smart saves in the second half.

Pochettino rolled the dice by introducing Llorente for Alli only for Origi to find some space inside the box and fire a vicious left footed drive into the bottom corner.

Despite their disappointment, former Spurs star Jermaine Jenas insisted his side should be proud of their journey after the game.

Jenas told BT Sport: "The Spurs players have done their club proud, the journey they took the club on has never been done before."
