Dele Alli suffers minor facial injury as Tottenham midfielder is held at knifepoint

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli managed to escape without suffering any many injuries after being held at knifepoint on Wednesday morning.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the England international suffered a scary ordeal at his home in north London.

Alli's property was broken into just after midnight on Wednesday morning and it's being reported that the midfielder was threatened before a scuffle broke out.

During which Alli was thumped in the face leaving him with a minor facial injury and the two culprits then proceeded to take various items including jewellery and watches before fleeing the scene.

Although, Alli's property is covered by CCTV and the footage has since been passed on to the police, who have confirmed they have opened an investigation.

"Police were called at approximately 00:35hrs on Wednesday, 13 May to reports of a robbery at a residential address Barnet," a police spokesman said. "Two males gained entry to the property and stole items of jewellery, including watches, before fleeing.

"One male occupant of the property, aged in his 20s, suffered a minor facial injury after being assaulted.

"He did not require hospital treatment.

"No arrests; enquiries into the circumstances continue."

In addition, Alli and other members including his brother Harry Hickford who have been self-isolating together were downstairs are said to be shaken up by the whole situation.

This is not the first time in the past 12 months in which a Premier League footballer has been confronted by a member of the public.

Last summer Arsenal left-back Sead Kolasinac was hailed as a hero for fighting off two attackers who tried to carjack Mesut Ozil in north London.
